🚔 Riverside Beat Weekly Update 🚔

It’s been another busy and productive week for the Riverside Beat Team, with officers carrying out proactive operations, progressing investigations, engaging with our communities, and safeguarding vulnerable people across the city.

🚗 Vehicle Crime Investigation Success
A fantastic result this week by PC Callum and PC Merryn following an investigation into a series of thefts from motor vehicles affecting staff at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Over a two day period, more than 14 vehicles had their windows smashed and property stolen. Through extensive enquiries, including CCTV reviews, witness statements, and suspect interviews, a suspect has now been:

🔹 Charged with 2 counts of Theft from a Motor Vehicle
🔹 Charged with 4 counts of Attempt Theft from a Motor Vehicle
🔹 Charged with Fraud by False Representation
🔹 Charged with Going Equipped to Steal
🔹 Recalled to Prison

This positive outcome demonstrates our commitment to identifying offenders, protecting our communities, and bringing those responsible before the courts.

🚲 Op Pedalfast
Riverside Beat officers joined colleagues from the City Beat Team as part of Op Pedalfast, carrying out proactive checks on e-bikes and e-scooters, as well as conducting immigration status checks across Leicester city centre, including DMU campus. The operation aims to tackle criminality, improve road safety, address the illegal use of vehicles, and maintain a visible policing presence within the city centre.

🎆 Op Nocturnal
Officers have been conducting high-visibility patrols across the city centre in support of Firework Night, helping to deter anti-social behaviour, provide reassurance to the public, and ensure everyone could enjoy the celebrations safely.

🏠 Safeguarding & Incident Response
Throughout the week, officers attended and investigated a domestic related incident, ensuring appropriate safeguarding measures were put in place and support was provided to those involved.

PCSO  V assisted with a high risk missing person incident and successfully located the individual safe and well.

🤝 Community Engagement

🎈 PCSO Phil and PCSO Hafsa attended St Andrews Play Association, engaging with children, families, and partner agencies while promoting key safety messages and strengthening community relationships.

🏠 PCSO V carried out a patch walk alongside Platform Housing, discussing local issues, identifying areas of concern, and strengthening partnership working. Joint visits and patrols are being planned to support residents, address community concerns, and help keep our neighbourhoods safe.

🎓 PC Jess has continued working closely with De Montfort University, liaising with staff regarding future safety campaigns and upcoming events to support students and the wider community.
